CBD Hot Chocolate | Chocodelic Trip
Dutch cacao combines with an adaptogenic blend of 10 synergistic mushrooms in this CBD-infused hot chocolate. Delicious and healthy. Low in sugar and blended with organic, Fair Trade Madagascar vanilla.

What does Chocodelic Trip taste like?
Chocodelic Trip tastes similar to traditional dark chocolate, with a richer finish thanks to the unique mushroom variety it contains. In this recipe, we use dark Dutch cocoa, along with real Madagascar vanilla powder and organic cane sugar (one of our few recipes using cane sugar!). While Dutch cocoa is a darker, more astringent version of lighter milk chocolates, the vanilla and cane sugar contribute a familiar sweet flavor dynamic, making this a semi-sweet cocoa rather than a true dark chocolate. Chocodelic Trip is the number one hot chocolate for adults.

Tasting notes: Dark chocolate, hints of espresso, sweet vanilla, sweet cane sugar.

What are the benefits of Chocodelic Trip?
Chocodelic Trip is a unique CBD hot chocolate. With a host of healthy ingredients, including an adaptogenic blend of 10 synergistic mushrooms, this hot chocolate is crafted to be both delicious and wholesome. Our mushrooms are carefully selected for their support of a healthy immune system, making them far more unique than regular cocoa. The Dutch cocoa used also contains high amounts of B vitamins, riboflavin, and vitamin K. This cocoa also contains minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and zinc.

What are adaptogenic mushrooms?
Mushrooms are a very unique eukaryotic species, as they contain chitin in their cell walls (the same material that makes up the exoskeletons of insects!). However, what's most intriguing is how adaptogenic mushrooms are used around the world. Most research has focused on the potential benefits of polysaccharides, including beta-glucans. Adaptogens are herbs, mushrooms, or other compounds that generally promote healthy responses to stressors in the body. Other well-known examples of adaptogens are ginseng and ashwagandha.

Where do the mushrooms come from and how are they grown? The mushrooms included in Chocodelic Trip are made from finely ground mycelium and fruiting bodies, locally grown in Portland, Oregon, on a base of brown rice. Each batch undergoes rigorous purity and safety checks, and these are some of the highest quality, bioavailable medicinal mushroom products available. The diverse composition of active ingredients—including mushrooms like Chaga, Reishi, and Cordyceps—is an excellent way to maintain a healthy body, and this rich cacao is one of the most delicious ways to enjoy them!

When should I drink CBD hot chocolate?

Chocodelic Trip contains caffeine due to its cocoa content (typically, a scoop contains about a tenth of what a cup of coffee contains). Thanks to its lower content, you can enjoy Chocodelic Trip at any time of day. While we think it's a great drink to enjoy in the evening, adding a scoop to your morning coffee is one of our founders' favorite ways to incorporate mushrooms and get an extra boost to start your day.

The history of hot chocolate
The Mayans were already drinking hot chocolate as early as 500 BC. It was made with ground cacao beans, water, corn flour, and chili peppers—very different from the hot chocolate we drink today. They mixed it by pouring it into a pot until it formed a thick, foamy froth, and then enjoyed it cold. This beverage was available to people of all social classes.

Cocoa beans and chocolate arrived in Europe in the early 16th century. The drink was kept cold and bitter. It gained even more popularity when it was adopted by King Charles V and the Spanish royalty. Later, it began to be served hot and sweetened.

Hot chocolate arrived in England in the 18th century. It was popular in chocolate shops (similar to today's coffee shops). It became increasingly popular despite the price of chocolate. The English began adding milk to their hot chocolate and enjoyed it after dinner. This is closer to what we know today!

Cocoa powder was invented in Holland, and the Dutch controlled almost the entire chocolate trade. Dutch-processed (European-style) cocoa, which we used in our Chocodelic Trip, is cocoa treated with an alkalizing agent that reduces its natural acidity. It has an intense flavor, with a smoother, more delicate flavor profile. It's often used in recipes like cakes and even in spice rubs.
