What are the benefits of Peppermint Treat? Peppermint Treat is an ideal cocoa to enjoy anytime, whether to relax after a busy day or for a sweet treat to boost your productivity in the afternoon. Dutch cocoa also contains high amounts of B vitamins, riboflavin, and vitamin K. It also contains minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Like all chocolate, Dutch cocoa is also considered slightly euphoric!
What is Dutch cocoa?
During the 18th century, the Dutch controlled virtually the entire cocoa trade, and Amsterdam became one of the most important ports for the cocoa trade. The Dutch also established initiatives for cocoa processing that are still in place, hence the name. During this time, chemist Coenraad Van Houten invented a press that extracts some of the fat from cocoa pods, and the development of this process marked the creation of "Dutch" cocoa. Van Houten also invented a way to treat cocoa with alkaline salts, which removed the bitter taste and made it more soluble in water. This process is known as "Dutch Process Chocolate."
