Discover the Mighty Matcha.
Matcha is obtained from young green tea leaves, and its quality varies greatly depending on the source. That's why we use the highest quality matcha available. Combined with 100% pure hemp-derived CBD, this matcha offers an invigorating experience. Prepare it as koicha or serve it with ice and milk for a delicious matcha latte.
What does CBD Matcha taste like?
Matcha is a finely ground green tea leaf, typically with an astringent, semi-sweet, herbaceous flavor. For our matcha, we selected a ceremonial-grade variety. Ceremonial-grade refers to the quality of matcha often used to prepare koicha, or "thick tea," typical of tea ceremonies. Ceremonial-grade matcha is made primarily from the youngest tea leaves, removed from stems and veins; this results in a smoother quality than lower-grade or "culinary" matcha or powdered green tea.
This matcha is designed to be enjoyed as is, without milk or sweeteners, but its exceptional quality is also fantastic with ice and milk, like a matcha latte.
Tasting notes: Vegetal, Herbaceous, Bright green
Note: To aid CBD absorption, we include a small amount of additional organic ingredients in our matcha. They add a slight sweetness of toasted coconut, as well as a small amount of fat molecules, which help CBD distribute throughout the body.
What is Matcha?
Matcha means "finely ground tea" and is made from young, shade-grown green tea leaves. In fact, all matcha is shade-grown because the shade from the leaves stimulates additional chlorophyll production in the plant, resulting in its beautiful green color. Although matcha also comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant, also known as the common tea plant, it is cultivated differently to encourage this additional period of chlorophyll production. Generally, matcha growers cover their plants 20 to 30 days before harvesting to avoid direct sunlight. This process increases chlorophyll production, giving the plant a darker hue and increasing its amino acid content.
Additionally, instead of rolling, shaping, and drying the leaves like traditional tea leaves, matcha tea leaves are dried and then ground in slow-rotating mills, resulting in fine green tea powder. Matcha is typically blended with hot water or steamed milk. Matcha typically contains more caffeine than other green teas and black tea, due to the higher concentration of the beverage (blended powder versus infused leaves).
What is a matcha or tea ceremony?
The matcha ceremony was frequently practiced by the samurai class and high-ranking members of society. The tea ceremony, also known as the Way of Tea or chanoyu in Japanese, is still practiced today. It focuses on the art of preparing and serving tea, and involves a unique tradition for both host and guest. Originally developed as a spiritual practice, where the guest leaves the worries of the outside world behind and crawls into the house, a practice known as nigiri guchi, whose original principles remain very important in tea ceremonies today. The ceremony seeks to create an atmosphere of intimacy, where participants share a sense of equality and are present with one another.
What are the benefits of Mighty Matcha? Matcha is rich in catechins, a plant compound that acts as a natural antioxidant. Since matcha is composed of pure, ground green tea leaves, it contains a more concentrated amount of antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds than other black, green, or white teas. In fact, one cup of matcha contains as many antioxidants as 10 cups of brewed green tea. It is also rich in vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc, and magnesium.
When should I take Mighty Matcha?
Since matcha is a green tea that contains caffeine, we recommend drinking it in the morning as a coffee substitute or as a midday pick-me-up.
